2024 Annual Symposium
of the
Ontario Archaeological Society
Accommodations
The 2024 OAS Symposium is being held in Thunder Bay at the Valhalla Inn and Conference Centre. The airport is nearby and there is a Valhalla Inn airport shuttle. Under new ownership, the guest rooms have all been renovated and many of the guest usage spaces have been refurbished. It is located in the southwest end of Thunder Bay but we do encourage you to visit other areas of the city such as the Lake Superior waterfront in Port Arthur, Centennial Park and adjacent areas to the north (experiencing the boreal forest), Lakehead University campus (Department of Anthropology), Mount McKay in Fort William First Nation, etc.
NOTE: We recommend checking out the prices of the Valhalla and other hotels on line, since there are deals to be had and they vary a great deal depending upon what you require. You may be able to find a cheaper booking rate with third party bookings (Trivago.ca, Booking.com, Hotels.com, Expedia.ca, etc.). Other options include Vrbo.ca and Airbnb.ca. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU BOOK EARLY.

Room Block OAS 2024 Symposium – 1239967
Cut-off for room block bookings is Tuesday, September 24, 2024. After that cut-off date, the hotel will not continue to hold any rooms in this group’s block.
Alternate Places to Stay
There are many hotels in this area of Arthur Street West, including two new ones right beside the Valhalla Inn, if you prefer to book somewhere else (and this does not impact the OAS Symposium costs if you stay elsewhere). Note that some hotels do not have airport shuttles if you are flying, so this would add short taxi rides to your travel plans.
